Down Errors If your site has errors, then
you need to work with correcting them. The line and column number of the
reported errors is a great way to start the correction process. Cynthia
Says will determine these line errors from the page request made during
the testing process. If your site uses static HTML pages with little or
no scripting, then in most cases, the line and column numbers will match
up exactly. You can then fix the original files on the server. In most
cases where the line and column reported does not match exactly when
viewing the source of the page through a web browser, it is just a
matter of shutting the word wrap feature in your text editor off.
The Cynthia Says Agent will return to you your
files source on pages that fail if you select the checkbox when running
the report that returns source on errors. This is excellent for Dynamic
or static content.
More and more, web sites are moving towards
dynamic content, such as that created from programs such as Microsoft
Content Management Server. In cases such as this, the back end server
does not contain pages and the page data exists only in a database. When
the page is requested, whether by Cynthia Says or a web browser, the
page contents are dynamically assembled and delivered to the user. In a
case like this, you need to view the errors as presented on the page as
viewed through a web server and track backwards to your content creation
system to see where those pieces are located and how they are built.
